We had a smooth 3 hour flight from Hong Kong direct to Phuket on DragonAir. The first noticeable difference in Phuket was the temperature as we arrived to a sunny 90F. We are staying at a beautiful resort located on Karon Beach. Evidently this area was not very affected by the Tsunami storm which hit further north from here.
On our drive from the airport our first impression was that Phuket is much cleaner that our area in China. They also drive on the left hand side of the road, but seem to have much better command of their driving skills than the Chinese. Since this is officially a “business” trip, I get to stay locked up all day listening to presentations while Janis gets to sit on the beach and listen to the ocean. Some things just aren’t fair. Sunday we plan to travel out to on one of the outer islands called Phi Phi Island. We’ll report back with another round of colorful photos of the sun and sand of southern Thailand.
